Vehicle Maintenance

Assist with routine maintenance and care for fleet of vehicles.

Volunteer Reports to: Director of Environmental Services

Summary: Spectrum of Solutions operates and maintains a fleet of vehicles used in the care and transportation of clients. These vehicles experience the usual wear and tear expected with regular use. The vehicle maintenance volunteer will assist in keeping vehicles in top operating shape.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Vacuuming/detailing vehicles
  • Vehicle checks – water, oil, tires, etc.
  • Inspect vehicles for safety and general condition
  • Perform scheduled maintenance
  • Duties include but are not limited to oil changes, topping off fluids, airing tires, other car maintenance
  • Perform minor repairs and updates

Requirements

  • Have minor knowledge/background in automotive care and maintenance
  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds
  • Must be dependable and punctual

Transportation Volunteer

Provide client transportation to various appointments.

Volunteer Reports to: Director of Operations

Summary: Spectrum of Solutions provides transportation for over 100 of its clients. This includes transportation to doctor’s appointments, work, meetings, etc. Spectrum of Solutions has a limited number of staff, and there are times Spectrum of Solutions needs assistance in getting clients to their desired location. Our drivers allow us to meet all our client’s transportation needs.​

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide round-trip transportation to appointments
  • Accompany clients during appointments
  • If necessary, provide client’s information/medical records at Doctor’s appointments
  • Be punctual and dependable in picking up clients at the scheduled time
  • Report any problems stemming from a transportation assignment
  • Report any health, safety, or well-being concerns regarding passengers
  • Ensure all clients arrive at destinations safely and on time
  • Call immediately if unable to keep an assigned ride request

Requirements

  • Have a valid Texas Driver License
  • Provide proof of insurance

Gardening

Work with clients in our gardening program for residential homes.

Summary: Spectrum of Solutions’ mission is to empower the lives of the individuals it supports. To do so, Spectrum of Solutions offers a wide range of enrichment programs for the clients to partake in. Spectrum of Solutions is seeking to establish a new gardening program for its clients to partake in and enjoy. The gardening volunteer will assist with these gardens and with the care-taking process.

​Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Clearing out old garden/flower beds
  • Laying new soil/sod/mulch
  • Construction of garden structures e.g. – cages, supports, garden boxes
  • Planting of flowers, vegetables, and other plants
  • Harvesting fruit, vegetables, flowers
  • Watering and feeding plants, trees, and shrubs
  • Hand weeding, hoeing, staking, tying-in plants, and cutting back vegetation
  • Educating clients on proper care for gardens

Staff Appreciation Volunteer

Spectrum of Solution’s staff works diligently each day. Help acknowledge and celebrate these individuals.

Volunteer Reports to: Volunteer Committee Chair

Summary: Spectrum of Solutions employs over 100 full and part-time employees. The Spectrum of Solutions employee is the lifeblood of the organization and works directly to empower the lives of the individuals we support. Spectrum of Solutions is only successful because of the hard work and dedication of those it employs. The Staff Appreciation Volunteer will assist with events/activities to help appreciate our wonderful staff.​

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establish appreciation events and activities for staff
  • Coordinate with other Staff Appreciation Volunteers
  • Seek donations of food, beverage, or raffle items
  • Coordinate with Spectrum of Solutions leadership on staff appreciation
  • Create recurring appreciation events/activities
  • Appreciation activities include, but are not limited to: providing breakfast/lunch, writing thank you notes, offering small prizes/incentives, etc.

Perform small maintenance, repair, and upkeep of Spectrum of Solutions facilities.

Volunteer Reports to: Director of Environmental Services

Summary: Spectrum of Solutions provides residential care for over 100 clients. To do so, Spectrum of Solutions maintains and operates 16 residential homes. These homes require constant care and maintenance. The volunteer handyman will assist and carry out minor repairs and maintenance of Spectrum of Solutions homes, property, furnishings, and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform basic repairs such as plumbing, electrical fixtures, broken appliances/equipment, and other minor repairs
  • Provide maintenance to interior and exterior of Spectrum of Solutions properties including painting, carpentry, grounds clean-up, and new equipment/furniture installation
  • Identify and report the need for major repairs
  • Other tasks identified by the Director of Environmental Services

Client OUtings

Chaperone clients as they enjoy different community outings or vacation opportunities.

Volunteer Reports to: Executive Director, Executive Assistant

Summary: Spectrum of Solutions enjoys taking its clients to different community outings as well and fun vacations. Each month Spectrum of Solutions plans different community outings. These include trips to movies, dinner, baseball games, etc. Additionally, clients take several vacations throughout the year. These vacations include fishing, shopping trips, amusement parks. The Outings/Vacations Volunteer will chaperone these trips and ensure the client has a safe and FUN experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Accompany clients to outing and/or vacation
  • Assist Spectrum of Solutions staff and other volunteers
  • Assist with coordinating all scheduled events
  • Supervise all activities and ensure client safety and well-being
  • Engage in fun activities with clients
  • Help clients manage money, spending, and time
  • Coordinate with nursing staff regarding client medication
  • Be punctual and dependable
  • Report any health, safety, or well-being concerns regarding clients
  • Connect with clients and help them enjoy their trips to the fullest

Fundraising Events

Assist with fundraising events including our golf tournament, Big Boys’ Toys, and car show.

Volunteer Reports to: Director of Marketing

Summary: Spectrum of Solutions hosts its annual golf tournament each year in September. This event helps raise funds to cover Spectrum of Solutions’ operational expenses. It is held at Ranchland Hills Country Club. This year it will be held on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with check-in for golf teams
  • Set up check-in area with table and chairs
  • Assist with raffle ticket sales
  • Distribute materials to players
  • Monitor refreshment stations set up on golf course
  • Set up banquet room with awards and prizes
  • Set up and distribute lunches for players
  • Break down set up and cleanup site

Clerical Work

Assist with day-to-day clerical work. Including record keeping, data entry, etc.

Volunteer Reports to: Executive Assistant

Summary: Spectrum of Solutions’ daily operations require large-scale coordination. The Clerical Volunteer will assist with a variety of administrative and office support tasks. This is an ideal position for someone with excellent attention to detail and experience/interest in working in an office setting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Data entry
  • General clerical duties including photocopying, scanning, and mailing
  • Answering the door/ answering the phone
  • Sorting donation
  • Archiving and historical work
  • Support of current administrative staff

Work on a variety of projects and goals for the Spectrum of Solutions location.

Volunteer Reports to: Director of Spectrum of Solutions

Summary: Spectrum of Solutions was launched to meet an urgent need in the Permian Basin. Spectrum of Solutions provides therapeutic services to children with developmental disabilities, specifically those on the autism spectrum. Spectrum of Solutions has experienced exponential growth, and as such, requires assistance with a wide array of projects. The Spectrum of Solutions Volunteer will help identify these needs and work to meet them. Listed below are a few of the projects Spectrum of Solutions is seeking assistance with.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Organize toy drive to supply new materials for therapy
  • Recreate “corner” in the sensory room
  • Clean/organize supply closets
  • Organize/implement social events for SOS families
  • Cut, paste, laminate materials set out by therapists
  • Repair broken children’s furniture
  • Pick up trash and/or clean up or improve landscaping
  • Provide off-site locations/materials for social skill groups
  • Provide group instruction to families
  • Respite/babysitting for clients’ families
